Sint-Janshuis- en Koeleweimolen

Windmills have graced Bruges’ ramparts ever since the construction of the outer city wall at the end of the 13th century. Today four specimens are left on Kruisvest. Sint-Janshuis Mill (1770) is still in its original spot and still grinding grain just like its neighbour Koelewei Mill. These are the only two mills you can visit.

The mills Koelewei Mill and Sint-Janshuis Mill are part of the city’s heritage. Both are still active grain mills. While the Sint-Janshuis Mill (1770) still stands on its original location, the Koelewei Mill (1765) was moved to the Dampoort in 1996.
